Located in Washington Township in eastern Hendericks County, thirteen miles west of down town Indianapolis. Avon has a rich heritage which has developed from a predominantly farm community to an area of single family residences and service industry. Within Washington Township, there is now a blend of single family residences and farms in addition to a growing number of businesses. The township has grown significantly in the last three decades and approximately 18,000 persons reside in the township now, compared with only 2,303 residents in 1950. Washington Township currently enjoys the distinction of being one of the fastest growing townships in Indiana.
Avon is a newly formed town and promises to enhance the township, attract business and industry and generally promises to provide an identity to Avon residents. The future looks bright for Avon because of its location and high quality of life.
Throughout its history, the community has given outstanding support in providing the needed facilities and programs for its students. Civic groups and parent organizations contribute extensively to the local schools.
The close proximity of the area to Indianapolis provides easy access to the well-developed interstate system.
