10. Noblesville, IN

Median home price: $150,000

Median family income (per year): $92,017

Located just outside of Indianapolis, Noblesville attracts residents looking for affordable housing and convenient access to a bigger city. The quickly-growing city is home to the Indiana Transportation Museum and the Verizon Wireless Music Center -- an outdoor amphitheater that attracts a hefty line up of artists, such as Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band and Jimmy Buffet.

Noblesville is the county seat for Hamilton County, which dates back almost two centuries to when the government bought the property from Native Americans.

The town grew quickly during the nineteenth century with the discovery of natural gas. Historic Noblesville Square is still the heart of downtown, anchored by Hamilton County Courthouse and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Residence and Jail. During its years of operation, the Hamilton slammer housed Charles Manson and D.C. Stephenson, Grand Dragon of the Ku-Klux Klan.--C.C.
