Plainfield is located 15 miles southwest of downtown Indianapolis, north of Interstate 70, and only minutes from Indianapolis International Airport. Its location had made it ideal for commuters to downtown and airport employees.
Plainfield History
The town of Plainfield was founded in 1839 and has experienced major housing and entertainment developments within the past few years. The history of Plainfield is rich in Quaker heritage and the downtown area reflects it. Main St. which is also State Road 40 is dotted with turn of the century homes and commercial buildings. Past the downtown section of town you will reach Saratoga. This community off of State Road 40 has multiple neighborhoods for any price range as well as condos and apartment complexes.
Plainfield Real Estate
In addition to new housing developments in Plainfield, the town has also seen a major increase in entertainment complexes. The outdoor shopping and dining mall, Metropolis, opened this past year features plenty of designer shops and national stores as well as fine dining and a movie theatre. Splash Island is another recent addition to Plainfield. This water park located at the Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center is on 3.1 acres of land and features three waterslides, a diving well, a lap pool, and an interactive play area.
